Child Support

Palm Beach County Child Support Lawyers

Attorneys Representing Your Rights

If divorce is a stressful time for adults, imagine the anxieties of children when their parents choose to end their marital relationship. Sometimes parents are so involved in their own challenges that they may lose sight of what is best for their children.

Concern for the Care of Children

The attorneys at Cheryl B. Flowers, P.A. are dedicated to serving our clients and helping our clients protect and plan for the best interests of their children. We have assisted many families in obtaining workable resolutions to often complicated and tense family situations.

In addition to providing a stable residence for their children, both custodial and non-custodial parents have a duty to shoulder the cost of health insurance and child care, as well as provide the food, clothing, and other necessities that their children need on a daily basis. Sometimes a change in the financial circumstances of either parent can alter the amount of child support given for the benefit of the child. This may require the custodial parent to initiate modification or enforcement actions to protect their child's rights to child support.

Child Support Guidelines

Under Florida law, child support is determined by factoring both parents' incomes into a formula to determine each parties' respective share of the family income. This calculation is done in accordance with the Florida Child Support Guidelines. At the law office of Flowers Paulino-Grisham, PL, we will work with you to find innovative ways to provide for your children considering the financial resources and involvement of each parent in the upbringing of their children. This requires some give and take from both parents, but these issues can be litigated if negotiations are unsuccessful.

In addition, child support involves more than money, food, clothing, and education. Both parents also have a responsibility to foster positive relationships with their children and the other parent. This means both parents should spend meaningful time with children and shield them from any parental animosities that might exist and avoid placing their children in the center of parental disputes.
